1. Have you done any upgrades?

The house has upgrade electrical 200 AMP service. There are new dimmer light control switches installed throughout the house for light control. Additional Ground Fault and Arc Fault Circuit receptacles are installed throughout the house for easy access and fire protection. Smoke detectors are installed. Automated timers installed on the water heater and sprinkler system provide energy savings.
The attic has a solar ventilation fan that keeps the house internally cool. The double wall construction is insulated to provide additional cooling comfort. Adjustable controlled ceiling fans throughout the house provide cool comfort. The large living room windows are double pane laminated safety glass for hurricane safety.
The two entrance exterior lights are antique aluminum cast lights restored from downtown Victoria Train Station Restaurant. The roof is asphalt Firehalt Architect 80, 35 year roofing. The Hawaiian rock wall, redwood fencing and roll-away entrance gate and lockable entrance walkway gate provide security and privacy. Upgraded copper plumbing and ABS drainage system.
The master bedroom has a large walk in closet with metal frame and door for added security. The master bedroom has teak 3/4" solid core wall accent panels for natural wood highlight. The master bedroom french doors open to the back yard and lanai deck overlooking the Pali mountain range. Evening sunsets through the mountains are easily and privately enjoyed in bed or on the deck.
2. What factors influenced your decision to move here?
We chose Kailua because of the towns natural beauty, the town provides many neighborhood community events, parades, holiday fire work festivities, musical events, park events, hiking activities, beach and park activities, great schools, accessible church communities, diverse restaurants, culturally active community events and organizations, accessible bike trails, and access to world recognized water sports activities. We have always felt safe in this community. We have quick access to nationally recognized medical and emergency services.
3. How is your commute to work?
Access to Kailua town, and the beach is easy by walking, and access roadways. There is many multiple options in addition to bus stops very near by. Commute to work and town is accessible and reasonable through either the Pali or H3.
4. What do you like best about your neighborhood?
Accessibility to everything we need is within walking and biking distance. The neighborhood is quiet as there is no through traffic. The neighbors are long time owners. Our neighbors work as Directors and Deans in the english and special educations departments at University Hawaii and Windward Community College. Across the street is a retire major from the Honolulu Police department. Down the street is a military couple with a new family.
5. What are your favorite nearby restaurants and places to shop?
There are so many varieties of restaurants that make Kailua so unique. The sky's the limit with quality and selection abundant: Chinese, Mexican, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Hawaiian, Local style, etc. The variety of shops and boutiques continues to grow and provides limitless selections and choices.
6. Are there any other attractive features about this home or neighborhood that we have not covered?
The house has been remodeled with separate entrances/exits to the bedrooms and provides for a mother-in-law suite or guests accommodations. The Kailua community is vibrant while relaxed. Your family and guests will love visiting you at this upgraded Hawaiian style home.
